TITILAKA LAKE

FD UROS, TAQUILE AND LUNCH (SHARED SPEED BOAT + PRIVATE GUIDE)

Early in the morning, you will have an unforgettable motorboat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to Taquile, a natural island inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives, who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, passed down through the generations.

Continue your motorboat trip to the peninsula of Chucuito, for a stop at the rural Aymara Community of Luquina, where you will savor a buffet lunch including regional dishes while enjoying a magnificent view of Lake Titicaca.   End your day with a visit to the unique "Floating Islands" of the Uros.  These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own islands by periodically adding new layers of a vegetable fiber of the Papyrus family called "Totora" (scientific Scirpus totora), which is unique to the area.  Return to Puno after the visit.  (B / L / -)

PUNO – COLCA

We will pick you up from your hotel in Puno to begin our scenic journey to Colca - Arequipa. Along the way, we will make several brief stops to rest, take in the landscape, and experience the natural beauty of the highlands.

Our first stop will be in Santa Lucía for a short break. We then continue toward the Lagunillas area, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of beautiful high-altitude lagoons and have the chance to observe Andean birds in their natural environment.

Later, we’ll stop in Patawasi, where you can enjoy traditional coca tea (not included) and use the facilities. From here, you’ll have excellent views of the Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes from behind, as well as the unique “forest of rocks,” a group of rock formations sculpted by nature to resemble trees. At this point, we will also switch vehicles.

Continuing our journey, we pass through the vast plains of Tocra, an area known for its underground water sources and its abundance of local wildlife. It’s common to spot llamas, alpacas, muleteers, and various Andean bird species along the way.

Our next stop is Patapampa, also known as the Andes Lookout Point, located at 4,900 meters above sea level. This is the highest point of the trip and offers a breathtaking view of up to eight volcanoes that form the so-called “Circle of Fire.”

From there, we begin our descent into the Colca Valley, arriving in the town of Chivay, situated at 3,650 meters. Upon arrival, we will stop for lunch. After lunch, your guide will take you to your hotel for check-in and some time to rest.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit La Calera hot springs, where you can relax in the thermal waters surrounded by stunning Andean scenery. Afterward, we return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Chivay.
